Macomb County resident dies due to Listeria outbreak linked to Dole salads

The Center for Disease Control confirms a Macomb County resident has died after eating listeria tainted Dole packaged salad.The CDC has been investigating a multi-state listeria outbreak since September of last year. Twelve people –ages 3 to 83—have been infected in the outbreak in six states. Four people are from Michigan.

All of the salad came from a Dole processing facility in Springfield Ohio and sold under various names. The suspect packaged salads can be identified by the letter ‘a’ at the beginning of the manufacturing code found on the package. Salads were sold under various names including: Dole, Fresh Selections, Simple Truth, Market Side,The Little Salad Bar and Presidents Choice.
