Governor’s aid said Flint residents got “blown off” in water crisis

A top aid for Governor Snyder said in an email that Flint residents were “basically getting blown off by us” in connection to the water crisis in the city. Chief of staff Dennis Muchmore wrote those words in an email to The Department of Health and Human Services in July of last year. The email discovered through an open records request.

Today, the Governor met with Flint Mayor Karen Weaver.  She says she believes it will take more than one billion dollars to fix flint’s lead pipes and treat people with lead poisoning in her city. In 2014, under the director of am emergency manager, flint disconnected from the Detroit water system and connected to the Flint River. Experts say the river water was more corrosive, causing lead to leach into the drinking water.
