Researchers reveal the benefits of limes

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Researchers say consuming limes can decrease the risk of obesity, diabetes, asthma exacerbations, and heart disease, thereby increasing mortality. Additionally, limes help improve skin complexion and hair growth, increase iron absorption, and boost the immune system. The high concentration of Vitamin C, a well-known antioxidant, is the primary reason limes are so valuable. Ways to incorporate limes in your diet include: adding them to fish plates, combining with oil for salad dressing or seasoning, squeezing the juice in water, and using as marinades and rubs. Before jumping to add limes to your diet, however, researchers caution consumers to wash thoroughly the skins of the lime before cutting because bacteria is easily transferred from the outer peel.
