Wayne County Executive Warren Evans asks state to declare financial emergency

Wayne County LogoThe financial situation in Wayne County has just become critical. Wayne County Executive Warren Evans has asked the state to declare a financial emergency in his county. A spokesperson said Evans has sent a letter to State Treasurer Nick Khouri to declare the emergency and support a request for a Consent Agreement between the county and the State of Michigan.

A release from Evans office stated:

“As part of his commitment to execute his Recovery Plan to rid the county of its $52 million structural deficit, Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans requested an extra measure of support and authority from the State of Michigan.
