MEET THE HOSTS:

JIM HARPER

Jim Harper was born in Hamtramck, where he and his extended family lived until he reached the age of five. They moved to Westland, Michigan where Jim went to school and graduated from John Glenn High School.

Jim heard “the calling” early in life and, along with a friend, got a part-time job doing a weekly teen forum show on a small station in Ypsilanti at the age of 13. At the time, he was the youngest person in the country to have his own radio show and hold an FCC Third Class Radio License.

While attending Jr. high and high school, Jim worked his way up at three radio stations in southeastern Michigan, until he was offered a full time job upon graduation from high school.

Harper went on to spend nearly 40 years in Detroit radio, with generations of fans starting their day with Jim and his “Breakfast Club” family.

He and his wife Lynn have a dog, Pippa, and travel up to northern Michigan whenever they can. He enjoys hockey, photography, reading, and loves about anything that has to do with cars.

Jim has a passion for helping charities, which was a big part of the foundation of all of his morning shows. He is also dedicated to being a positive voice during these troubled economic times in Michigan.
