Darren McCarty is best known for his years as a professional hockey player for the Detroit Red Wings as part of the National Hockey League.

During his time with the team, Darren quickly became a fan-favorite, taking on the role as the team enforcer.  He and his teammates won The Stanley Cup in 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008.

After 15 years of playing on the rink, McCarty retired and shifted his focus to broadcasting, where he made his debut with Versus as an B analyst.  In 2008, McCarty began his weekly podcast “Grind Time with Darren McCarty,” and joined NRM (New Radio Media Streamcast) in January 2020.
