Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed a shooting incident that left an officer injured in the parking lot of the Southfield’s Courtyard Marriott to give them a call. Michigan State Police Lieutenant Mike Shaw says the officer was part of an FBI-led joint task force aimed at busting human trafficking rings. On Friday night, an investigation led the task force to the hotel where a gun battle took place in the parking lot. The officer was struck in a bulletproof vest, but the suspect was shot and killed at the scene. Anyone with information can call (313) 965-2323.
