A 6-year-old girl was the victim of identity theft in Bloomfield Township. Amber Smith’s Social Security number was used to open utility accounts at various addresses in Detroit. Her father has spent months trying to remove the fraudulent accounts. He filed a police report and filled out an affidavit. DTE says they’re investigating. The identity theft was flagged by a credit monitoring service after the family’s medical records were breached last year.
