The Federal Aviation Administration unveiled their web-based registration platform for small Unmanned Aircraft Systems on Monday. Officials say drones must now be registered with the FAA if they weigh more than 0.55 pounds, less than 55 pounds, and are intended to be flown outdoors. Aircraft operated by the current owner before this past Tuesday must be registered no later than February 19th. All others must be registered before the first outdoor flight. Registration can be done online on the FAA’s website. There is a $5 registration fee, but it’s free if registration is completed before January 21st.
