Some changes coming to Maple Road at least for awhile. Birmingham city officials say the plan to narrow Maple Road between Southfield & Cranbrook should start at the end of September or early October. Maple Road will go from 4 lanes to 3. City officials say they will try it for 6 months. They promise traffic will have flown smoother, quicker and safer with 3 lanes rather than 4. If it’s doesn’t work, the road will be restriped into four lanes, the way it was, the first of the new year.
