DETROIT ~ Supporters of Abdul El-Sayed celebrated Tuesday night as the Democrat defeated Republican Mike Rogers to win Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat, capping one of the state’s most closely watched races. For many voters, the result represented an opportunity for new leadership in Washington and a voice they believe will focus on issues affecting Michigan families.
