DETROIT ~ With Election Day approaching, Michigan voters got a chance to hear from two of the nation’s most recognizable political figures as former President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump campaigned in the state over the weekend. Obama joined Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson at a rally in Detroit, urging supporters to stay engaged in the final days of the campaign.
Trump traveled to Port Huron on Sunday to rally Republicans and support candidates including U.S. Senate hopeful Mike Rogers. For many Michigan voters, the visits served as a reminder of the state’s importance in national politics as both parties make a final push ahead of Election Day.
