GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. ~ Michigan voters got a closer look at the candidates hoping to represent them in the U.S. Senate as Democrat Abdul El-Sayed and Republican Mike Rogers met Thursday for a televised debate in Grand Rapids. The candidates discussed issues including health care, the economy and foreign policy while making their case to voters ahead of the November election.
Beyond the policy disagreements, the debate offered voters a chance to see how each candidate would respond under pressure in one of the nation’s most closely watched Senate races. With control of the U.S. Senate at stake, both candidates used the stage to draw contrasts and appeal to undecided Michigan voters.
