EAST LANSING ~ Michigan State University officials say significant progress has been made in restoring campus services after a widespread power outage disrupted operations over the weekend. While many systems have returned online, crews continue working through a phased restoration process to safely return buildings, classrooms and residence halls to normal conditions.
Some classes will continue to be held remotely as restoration efforts move across campus, with academic units providing updates directly to students and employees. University leaders said the size and complexity of MSU’s infrastructure means some buildings may require additional cleanup and maintenance before full operations resume.
“Our facilities and utility teams have made significant progress over the past 48 hours,” said Michigan State University President Kevin Guskiewicz. “We know the inconvenience and disruption caused by the outage and the resulting conditions on campus, and I want to assure the campus community that we are working as quickly and as diligently as possible to fully restore normal operations.”
