DETROIT ~ Parents and educators continue to wrestle with how much access children should have to social media as concerns grow about cyberbullying, harmful content and the effects excessive screen time may have on mental health. Many experts say healthy boundaries, media literacy and ongoing family discussions are critical tools for helping young people navigate the digital world.
The debate also has renewed attention on the responsibility of technology companies to create safer online spaces for younger users while balancing the benefits of digital engagement. As artificial intelligence and social media become more integrated into everyday life, many believe children should develop critical-thinking skills and healthy online habits before spending significant time on those platforms.
