DETROIT ~ Downtown Detroit has a new pizza joint serving the Motor City’s iconic style of pie!
Unc’s Pizza opened last week on Tuesday at 1133 Griswold St., specializing in Detroit-style, deep-dish pizza. Larry Kahn, one of the owners of the pizzeria, said that the restaurant was named after his late Uncle Paul.
“I called him ‘Unc’ when I was little,” Kahn told WJR. “I couldn’t say Uncle Paul, so I just said Unc when I was a baby. He was the best. It’s so great to be able to name it after him. He’s been gone since 2006, and he’s the reason I’m here.”
