ALLEN PARK, MICH. ~ The Detroit Lions made running back Jahmyr Gibbs the highest paid player at his position on Thursday afternoon, signing him to a three-year, $67.5 million extension.
Negotiations dug into the training camp schedule, as the three-time Pro Bowler missed a few practices before sorting out his deal.
In 2025, Gibbs showed his explosiveness in both the run and pass game. The 24-year-old tallied 1,223 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 243 carries, while catching 77 passes for 616 yards and five touchdowns.
Detroit’s first preseason game is set for Thursday, Aug. 13 on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals at 7 p.m.
