IRAN ~ Leaders between Iran and the U.S. contradicted each other on whether direct talks would be held on Monday after President Donald Trump called off threatened strikes on Iran over the weekend.
Trump told reporters Sunday that the negotiations would be held on Monday afternoon regarding commercial travel through the Strait of Hormuz and “denuclearization.” However, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that there are no plans for direct talks with the U.S. on Monday, contradicting Trump’s claim.
Instead, Iran will focus on talks with the nation of Oman regarding temporary passage through the Strait of Hormuz, whose disruption since the beginning of the war has caused global oil prices to rise and fluctuate.
