DETROIT ~ The Rocket Classic received another major boost ahead of tournament week with the announcement that Jordan Spieth will make his debut at Detroit Golf Club. The three-time major champion committed to the field just days before the PGA TOUR returns to Detroit, giving local fans a chance to watch one of the sport’s most recognizable players compete in the event for the first time. Spieth, a 13-time PGA TOUR winner, captured the Masters and U.S. Open in 2015 before adding The Open Championship in 2017.
Spieth’s commitment strengthens what is already shaping up to be one of the strongest fields in Rocket Classic history. The tournament will feature a mix of top-ranked players and former champions, including Cameron Young, Russell Henley, Wyndham Clark, Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama, Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka and defending champion Aldrich Potgieter. Several players with past success at Detroit Golf Club, including Tony Finau and two-time winner Cameron Davis, are also set to return.

(CONTINUED) While the field is nearly finalized, a handful of spots remain available before tournament week begins. The commitment deadline arrives July 24 following the second round of the 3M Open, and four additional players will earn their way into the field through Monday qualifying. The final roster is expected to be one of the deepest the Rocket Classic has assembled since its debut on the PGA TOUR schedule in 2019.
The tournament returns to Detroit Golf Club from July 30-Aug. 2 for its eighth consecutive year, continuing its tradition of bringing many of golf’s biggest names to the city. With Spieth now added to the lineup, anticipation is likely to grow among fans eager to see a world-class field compete in Detroit.
