July 17, 2026 ~ Dennis Darnoi, political strategist and founder of Densar Consulting, joins the show to explore President Donald Trump’s claim that China interfered in the 2020 election during a primetime speech.
WASHINGTON D.C. ~ President Donald Trump gave an address to the nation Thursday evening, calling for voting regulations while relitigating long-debunked claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.
During his speech, Trump said that voting systems are “vulnerable and they’re easily compromised, and people within our government knew that.” He focused on China by claiming the nation attempted to manipulate the 2020 U.S. general election by accessing voter information and influencing the results. While he did not provide evidence of widespread voter fraud or Chinese interference during his speech, he did announce that he was declassifying documents that he claimed showed evidence that China worked to manipulate the 2020 election.
However, media outlets that looked at the documents have not found any evidence that foreign actors accessed voting systems or tampered with ballots. Instead, the documents released showed that China gained access to publicly available voter registration data of over 220 million U.S. citizens.
Trump said in his speech that his goal was “not to weaken confidence in elections.” He also said that “Every American deserves to know that when they cast their vote, that vote will be counted accurately in a system, and that is to make that system secure. One where cheating and interference are not just difficult, but virtually impossible. Unfortunately, the system we have today falls catastrophically short of that standard.”
He also urged Congress to pass the “SAVE America Act,” which would put stricter voter I.D. laws when casting ballots, including proof of citizenship when voting in-person.
