THREE RIVERS, MI ~ A 10-day strike at an American Axle/Dauch Corp. plant in Three Rivers culminated in a tentative contract agreement between United Auto Workers and Dauch Corp.
The UAW achieved one of its main goals of increasing pay to $30 an hour by 2030 from $22 an hour. The strike began on June 1 after the previous contract ended, with about 1,000 union workers walking out of the plant.
Union leadership said that wages had stagnated since the Great Recession of 2008, when many workers took pay cuts. Negotiations began in March, but an agreement was not reached by the time the contract expired.
American Axle is a Tier 1 parts supplier for GM.
