IRAN ~ Iran and the U.S. traded blows early Tuesday within Iran’s borders and airspace as peace talks continue to balance on a tightrope.
U.S. Central Command announced it attacked military targets in Iran, stating they were targeting missile launch sites and mine-laying boats, claiming the strikes were committed in “self-defense.” Iranian forces later said they shot down a U.S. Reaper Drone later that morning and shot at a fighter jet, stating that they considered the earlier U.S. strikes as a violation of the fragile ceasefire in place.
“The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warns against any violation of the ceasefire by the aggressive US military, and considers its right to reciprocal response to be legitimate and certain,” read a statement from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
