DETROIT, MICH. ~ SAY Detroit, which is celebrating 20 years of service and was founded WJR’s Mitch Albom, held the annual distribution of Radiothon funds ceremony at the SAY Detroit Play Center. The Radiothon, which was hosted in December, raised nearly $2.5 million. Leaders from multiple charities across the city of Detroit spoke at Monday afternoon’s event, highlighting the importance the checks have for those that fight poverty and food insecurity. Partners like Full Court Foundation, Hope Ignites Detroit, and the College for Creative Studies were all in attendance, including many more.
“If we are blessed, then we owe it to other organizations to bless them,” Albom said. “It’s because it’s the right thing to do.”
SAY Detroit works with over 4,000 children and their families through learning centers filled with opportunities for kids to dive into art, sports, and financial literacy, while also offering housing and health service.
