March 11, 2026 ~ WJR Digital Sports Reporter Nick Lundberg discusses moves made by the Lions and other teams in free agency.
DETROIT, MICH. ~ The Detroit Lions created $32 million in cap space for the 2026 season by restructuring quarterback Jared Goff’s contract Wednesday. $40 million of Goff’s base salary has been turned into a signing bonus, with an extra void year being added to his deal in 2030. Detroit has more holes on the roster to fill through free agency and the draft, along with extensions for eligible stars like running back Jahmyr Gibbs and linebacker Jack Campbell, so this move allows the Lions to operate with more financial flexibility.
