DETROIT, MI ~ The Detroit Red Wings honored Sergei Fedorov‘s no. 91 retirement with a 4-3 overtime victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Monday night at Little Caesars Arena. Fedorov became the ninth Red Wing in franchise history to have his number raised to the rafters. Four different goal scorers propelled Detroit to the win as right winger Alex DeBrincat recorded one score and two assists. Red Wings’ goaltender John Gibson tallied 31 saves on the defensive side of the ice. With the win, the Red Wings stand as the top team in the NHL’s Eastern Conference. Former national anthem singer Karen Newman made a special appearance, starting the game off on the right note. Head Coach Todd McClellan spoke to WJR Digital Sports Reporter Nick Lundberg after the game about the special night.
