DETROIT, MI ~ Since the start of 2026, the state of Michigan has said goodbye to its 6% sales tax on gasoline. In its place is a higher cents-per-gallon fuel tax. On the first of the new year, prices saw a 21-cent jump per gallon compared to 2025 rates.
