The ongoing government shutdown is causing concerns that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits may be paused due to insufficient funds.
The shutdown, now the second-longest shutdown in U.S. history, has no end in sight as Democrats and Republicans in the Senate are still at odds over extending tax credits for the Affordable Care Act. Come Nov. 1, the program may no longer be able to serve the 42 million people who rely on SNAP monthly.
