A Detroit Police officer is charged with a felony for a drunken encounter with other officers at an accident scene. The prosecutor’s office says Officer Jerold Blanding was off-duty and was at the accident scene involving a friend on January 14th, slurring his words and smelling of alcohol. They say Blanding had 3 guns in his possession, and he resisted other police who were trying to help the accident victim.
Blanding was arrested.
They say Blanding was under investigation for a fatal police shooting, and was under orders not to possess a gun.
