A preliminary exam is scheduled to resume on Tuesday for 17-year-old George Stewart, who is charged in the slaying of 91-year-old Paul Monchik. Police say Stewart moved in with his grandfather, Monchik’s neighbor, just a few days before the killing. The victim on Bentler street on Detroit’s west side. Stewart is charged with beating and shooting Monchnik and then setting his home on fire on November 23rd. A nearby gas station clerk testified Stewart came into the station the same day and purchased a lighter and 50-cents worth of gasoline.
