The Michigan Attorney General has charged another priest with criminal sexual conduct with a child.
The office says Father Joseph Baker was arrested and charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under the age of 13. The charge is the result of information from the Archdiocese of Detroit, which says it got a report and immediately gave it to the Attorney General’s office.
Baker is the sixth Catholic priest to be charged with criminal sexual conduct by Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office. A statement says Nessel’s investigative team receives calls daily from victims.
Baker has been a pastor at St. Perpetua church in Waterford, and was pastor at St. Mary Parish in Wayne. He had also served at some other area churches.
The archdiocese has barred Baker from any church duties.
