A preliminary exam for an Independence Township man charged with beating his wife to death with a basement bat is to continue today in Oakland County circuit Court.
34 Year old Joseph Mauti was charged with killing his wife in their home back in May of 2015.
Prosecutors say he waited until his wife, a teachers aide in Clarkston, had put their six year old son and two year old daughter to bed, then attacked her when she came downstairs.
Police say Mauti later told them that he used the bat to kill the family’s 13 year old dog.
Mauti also reportedly told police he thought his wife was being unfaithful and bringing men to the house.
The children were not hurt.
