
EAST LANSING ~ Michigan State welcomes back alumni for homecoming this week with a full itinerary of traditions, festivities, and football.
The campus is glowing with pride as part of the university’s Glow Green initiative. Students and administrators swapped green lightbulbs into fixtures across campus, creating a spirited backdrop for the week.
MSU’s 150th Homecoming Parade begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, when the Spartan Marching Band, campus groups, and community organizations will walk down Grand River and through campus. The parade will feature Grand Marshal Susan Packard, class of 1977, a self-help author and co-founder of HGTV and Scripps Networks Interactive. Twelve Spartan seniors were selected to represent the student body on Homecoming Court for their leadership and excellence. Local honorees include Maddie Hanes from Royal Oak, Taylor Regester from West Bloomfield, and AhJanae Walton from Detroit.

(CONTINUED) MSU athletics will celebrate its 110th homecoming football game Saturday, when the Spartans face Illinois in Spartan Stadium. With alumni support in the stands, MSU will attempt to break its three-game losing streak. Head coach Pat Fitzgerald stands to gain alumni approval this weekend with a win. He said on 760 WJR’s ‘JR Morning that it “should be a heck of a football game here Saturday.”
The Spartans will kick off against Illinois at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in East Lansing. Tune in to 760 WJR’s live tailgate coverage starting at 12:30 p.m.
