September 22, 2026 ~ Chris Renwick, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds discuss Fifth Third Bank regional president Steve Davis about the ballpark name change.
DETROIT ~ Fans may soon be calling the Tigers’ home Fifth Third Park as Fifth Third Bank prepares to assume the stadium’s naming rights following its acquisition of Comerica. Bank leaders said the change reflects the company’s long-term commitment to Michigan while emphasizing that a ballpark’s identity is shaped more by the memories created there than the name on the building.
As the Tigers prepare for the 2027 season opener, many expect the conversation to shift from the stadium’s name to the experiences, traditions and community connections that continue to make the ballpark a Detroit landmark. Supporters of the transition say the venue’s role as a gathering place for generations of fans will remain unchanged as a new chapter begins.
“It’s about the family experiences and the memories and all the great things that happen there,” said Steve Davis, regional president of Fifth Third Bank. Davis said he hopes fans will continue to focus on the traditions, memories and community spirit that have made the ballpark a special part of Detroit for decades.
