DETROIT, MICH. ~ July 4th marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, and the Founding Fathers were the ones who built the framework of the country. To really understand how the U.S. economy developed into one of the best in the world starting in 1776, Senior Vice President Emeritus at Northwood University Dr. Tim Nash teamed up with historian George H. Nash in a new book, “Books and the Founding Fathers and Their Influence on America Today.”
“I was amazed at just how important people like John Locke and Adam Smith were,” Nash said on ‘JR Morning. “And they wrote great works before the U.S. Declaration of Independence was written, but they had a great influence on freeing up Europe, and then that philosophy was part of the reason for the U.S. becoming a free and independent state.”
The genius of the Founding Fathers lies in the fact that they knew that they didn’t get everything right, so they allowed future Americans the opportunity to change and improve our society. The 239th anniversary of the Constitution is this September, and this document has largely allowed the American economy to develop into a global superpower.
Property rights, individual freedom, a strong military, the rule of law, and the fact that we welcome competition and invention has helped shape the U.S. into one of the most admired countries in the world and the longest-serving democratic republic that has influenced longstanding European countries.
