DETROIT, MICH. ~ A massive crowd of teens took part in a brawl in downtown Detroit Sunday night, which ultimately led to the shooting of a 14-year-old, who is expected to survive. Despite Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield and Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison’s six-point “community safety plan” which rolled out in April, these “teen takeovers” have continued to disturb the downtown streets.
Sheffield addressed the latest gathering on Monday, noting that there will be consequences for this type of behavior.
“We got the Wayne County sheriffs, we got the state police,” Political advisor Adolph Mongo said on All Talk. “They’re going to have to hold these parents accountable, 13-year-olds out running around downtown at 1 a.m., 2 a.m. is unacceptable.”
