NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. ~ The Detroit Tigers dropped their third game in a row Thursday afternoon to the New York Mets, losing 9-4 at Citi Field to complete the three-game series sweep.
After starting with a 3-0 lead, the Mets were able to get to Detroit starting pitcher Keider Montero in the middle innings. Montero gave up four runs while only recording two strikeouts in 4.2 frames.
In the last 10 contests, Detroit has posted a 1-9 record, coming out victorious in only one of their last six road games. The Tigers rank fifth in the American League Central Division with a 19-25 record.
Detroit will be back at Comerica Park Friday night for a three-game weekend series against the 2025 champions of the American League, the Toronto Blue Jays. First pitch tomorrow night is set for 6:45 as Ty Madden will take the mound for the Tigers against Trey Yesavage for Toronto.
