ATLANTA, GA. ~ After dropping the first two games of the series against the Atlanta Braves, the Detroit Tigers bounced back Thursday afternoon at Truist Park, winning 5-2 thanks a four-run effort in the eighth and ninth innings.
Centerfielder Matt Vierling came up huge at the plate for Detroit, recording three hits and two RBIs, including the game-tying double in the eighth frame. Second basemen Gleyber Torres drove in the go-ahead run shortly after.
Starting pitcher Framber Valdez had a solid outing at the mound for the Tigers, tallying eight strikeouts in six innings, only giving up two runs. Relief pitcher Drew Anderson recorded the win for his first of 2026, while relief pitcher Kyle Finnegan got the save.
Detroit will be back at Comerica Park for a three-game series against the Texas Rangers.
