DETROIT, MICH. ~ After another “teen takeover” took place in Downtown Detroit on Saturday night, police have been cracking down on the disturbances.
Large groups of teenagers have been running around the area since March 31, causing “chaos” downtown, though only minor injuries have been reported. However, as rumors swirl online of more potential “teen takeovers,” businesses in the area are worried about more potential acts of violence.
“That’s why it’s important for all cities experiencing this issue to ensure, number one, there’s a proper police presence spread out, and in this case, throughout downtown Detroit,” Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren said on ‘JR Afternoon. “Secondly they’re communicating with the parents through the media that if your child is out after the designated curfew hours, that there will be a consequence.”
