WASHINGTON, D.C. ~ After the Senate voted early Friday to fund the Department of Homeland Security, the House shut down the deal Friday afternoon. House Republicans rejected the bill after reviewing that it left out funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol. According to House Speaker Mike Johnson, House Republicans are vying to pass an alternative eight-week measure to fund the DHS. The department has gone unfunded since Feb. 14, which has led to issues with TSA staffing at airports across the country.
