March 25, 2026 ~ Chris Renwick and Lloyd Jackson spoke with Congressman Tim Walberg. They discussed continued efforts to fund DHS. This includes TSA, ICE, and the Coast Guard. Negotiations stall due to political disagreements.
WASHINGTON D.C. ~ A funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security that was created to reach a deal to end a partial government shutdown is receiving pushback from both Democrats and Republicans.
The shutdown has lasted over five weeks, and an imminent resolution seems unlikely with the current proposal introduced by some Congressional Republicans, which would remove $5.5 billion in funding for ICE. Democrats oppose this because they feel that it does not address ICE tactics, which have come under scrutiny after fatal incidents with agents earlier this year, and some Republicans, like Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), expressed disapproval of removing so much funding from the agency.
