IRAN ~ President Donald Trump announced Monday that the U.S. will temporarily pause airstrikes on Iranian energy infrastructure for five days amid the violent war that has lasted for about a month.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said that talks with Iran have been “VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE” and that these talks could lead to a “COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESOLUTION TO HOSTILITIES.” This is a backtrack of his previous threat against Iranian power plants if the nation failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by Monday, a major trade route for the global oil supply. Iran closed the Strait in retaliation after the U.S. and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran.
So far, over 1,500 people have been killed in Iran, with Israel’s operations in Lebanon killing over 1,000 people. There are 13 reported deaths of U.S. troops in the region.
