Feb. 15, 2026 ~ The internationally recognized hunger-relief event Empty Bowls returns to Detroit for the first time in six years on March 27. Founded in Michigan by art educators, Empty Bowls began as a grassroots effort to engage students to creatively address hunger through handmade ceramic bowls and shared meals. Over the past three decades, it has grown into a worldwide movement, raising millions of dollars for local food-security organizations, one bowl at a time, while remaining deeply community-focused. Event co-organizer Tracey Priska joins Michigan Voices.
