Problems At the Pump: Gas Prices Continue Rise Amid War on Iran

March 11, 2026 ~ Chris Renwick, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds spoke with Paul Sankey, lead analyst at Sankey Research. They discussed the Middle East conflict and its effects on oil and gas prices.

U.S. ~ While crude oil prices are somewhat stabilizing, gas prices at the pump still continue to rise due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz after the U.S. and Israel struck Iran.

AAA reported that the national average for gas is $3.58 per gallon as of Wednesday morning, up from $2.98 per gallon on the day before the war began. Michigan’s average was at $3.61 per gallon, with Wayne County below average at $3.56 per gallon.
