IRAN ~ Three commercial vessels were struck by unknown projectiles early Wednesday in the Strait of Hurmuz as the war between the U.S./Israel and Iran intensifies across the Middle East.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations confirmed that the vessels were struck, including the Thai bulk carrier Mayuree Naree, which was evacuated after catching fire. The Strait was closed by Iran in retaliation for U.S.-Israeli strikes that began 12 days ago, disrupting supply chains for oil and other raw materials.
Iran has reported that over 1,300 people have been killed by the U.S.-Israeli military assault, including a strike on an Iranian girls’ school that killed 175 people, a majority of them children. The strike has received scrutiny, with the U.S. believed to be responsible due to a Tomahawk missile being used. Israel has also continued its attack on Southern Lebanon, killing 570 people as of Wednesday morning.
In retaliation, Iran has launched projectiles at Israel, along with U.S. bases and embassies in the region, with Saudi Arabia, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar among the nations struck. Seven U.S. troops have been reported killed, along with 140 injured.
