HOUSTON, TEXAS ~ The World Baseball Classic is in full swing, but after starting one game for Team U.S.A. against Great Britain, Detroit Tigers’ pitcher Tarik Skubal decided Monday afternoon to return to Lakeland, Florida to finish Spring Training with Detroit. After giving up a homerun on the first pitch of the game in his only start of the WBC, Skubal locked in to finish with five strikeouts over three innings. With a massive contract opportunity looming, Skubal decided to prepare for the MLB season, but stated that he would rejoin the team as a spectator for the semifinals and finals if the U.S. is to make it that far.
