WASHINGTON D.C. ~ The United States and Israel intensified coordinated strikes across Iran on Saturday, prompting broad Iranian retaliation as explosions and missile launches were reported throughout the Middle East.
Multiple reports confirmed that Israeli missiles targeted sites linked to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, though he was moved to a secure location prior to the strikes. The attacks also hit government buildings and military installations in Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, Karaj, and Kermanshah, with U.S. forces focusing on Iran’s ballistic‑missile and nuclear infrastructure under the banner of Operation Epic Fury.

(CONTINUED) Iran escalated swiftly, firing missiles and drones at U.S. bases in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan. State media reported that four major U.S. installations—including Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and the U.S. Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain—were struck as air‑raid sirens sounded across Israel. Explosions were also documented in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, and Kuwait City as nations across the Gulf activated missile‑defense systems.
Iranian officials confirmed casualties among senior military leaders, including Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and IRGC commander Mohammed Pakpour, who were killed in Israeli strikes. Civilian losses mounted as well, with at least 51 students killed when a girls’ elementary school in Minab was hit during the bombardment, according to Iranian state media. Additional explosions across Tehran and other cities caused further but still‑unconfirmed casualties.
Global reaction intensified as the conflict widened. The United Nations scheduled an emergency Security Council meeting, calling for de‑escalation amid warnings of broader regional instability. China, Gulf governments, and European nations urged restraint, while regional airspace closures disrupted travel across Iran, Israel, Iraq, and multiple Gulf states. U.S. officials signaled that operations would continue for several days, maintaining the stated goal of degrading Iran’s military capabilities and eliminating what the Trump Administration described as imminent threats.
