Feb. 26, 2026 ~ Chris Renwick and Lloyd Jackson discuss Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address with Sen. Michael Webber. They talk about Michigan’s economy, education, housing, and mental healthcare.
LANSING ~ On Thursday, State Sen. Michael Webber (R-Rochester Hills) spoke to WJR about the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the work he believes needs to be done to protect those receiving mental health care.
Last fall, an audit of MDHHS was published, finding that Michigan didn’t always meet sufficient standards when it came to protecting the rights of mental health care patients. This issue has become a priority for Webber.
“We’ve been working on this issue we’re, and really with the parents and the patients for the last three years,” Webber told WJR. “We finally asked for the audit in 2023. The audit finally came out in September of 2025, and we’ve been doing oversight now since then. But mental healthcare is healthcare. We have to protect our vulnerable patients and our vulnerable kids.“
