ROMULUS, MICH. ~ The Romulus City Council voted in unity on Monday as the city’s officials unanimously approved a resolution that is in opposition of a planned U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility. ICE has been in talks of buying a warehouse at 7525 Cogswell St. to use as a facility. Hundreds of anti-ICE protestors gathered outside of Romulus City Hall as the vote was held. Romulus Mayor Robert McCraight has not heard from the federal government since he reached out last week, and has been adamant that ICE will not be given a permit unless a federal judge gives the order.
