EAST LANSING ~ Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo has added yet another honor to his storied career, being named to the Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year Watch List. The Atlanta Tipoff Club announced the group of 15 coaches, a collection that reflects some of the nation’s most accomplished leaders, and Izzo once again finds himself firmly in the conversation. His presence on the list highlights the continued respect he commands in college basketball, especially in a season where the Spartans have emerged as one of the nation’s most consistent programs.
Now in his 31st season leading Michigan State, and more than four decades into his tenure with the program overall, Izzo continues to build on a legacy defined by longevity and excellence. He earned Big Ten Coach of the Year honors in 2025 after guiding MSU to a conference regular-season championship, marking the fourth time he has claimed that award. His previous recognitions in 1998, 2009 and 2012 underscore just how long he has sustained high-level success in the nation’s most competitive conference.
