DETROIT, MICH. ~ One of the greatest pitchers in Detroit Tigers history is back with the team. On Tuesday, Detroit announced that they have signed starting pitcher Justin Verlander to a one-year, $13 million contract. Verlander spent more than 12 years with the Tigers and won more than a fair share of awards while here, including the 2006 American League Rookie of the Year and the 2011 A.L. Most Valuable Player, Cy Young, and Triple Crown. The contract will involve $11 million worth of deferred payments starting in 2030.
